Astrology for Wednesday, July 21

The first thing that caught my eye in looking at Wednesday's chart is the Moon's South Node at 9 Gemini (habits) is trine Chiron in Aries (wounded identity). The aspect that shapes this year is Saturn in Aquarius (karma reflected in a new appreciation of all humanity) square Uranus in Taurus (the need for freedom in conventional institutions).

Looking at this from a national perspective, it is pretty clear that we need a new look at humanity, but that look is not completely independent. It has been shaped by a legacy of things that must change before that freedom is achieved.

The Moon's South Node in Sagittarius trine Chiron in Aries show how a stale philosophy is pulling us back into a black hole in our identity - who will we be as a nation? Will we follow the past and continue the wounding to our collective identity or will we heal ourselves by forging a new identity - and what will it be? The nation is heading toward a Chiron return to the same place it occupied in 1776. People then had to decide if they would break with the old idea that only the king was important - or follow a more humanitarian (although flawed in execution by enslavement) humanitarian outlook. Of course, the nation opted for a break with Great Britain and forging a new identity. But the legacy of slavery haunted us from the Declaration of Independence to the Civil War to today. Any new identity would ideally be one for all people, including women and people of color.
